We talk to Morag Makey, International Baccalaureate educator and leader with a passion for empowering students, families and schools through IB Pathways. Morag explains the challenges of the IB Diploma Programme curriculum, why good organisational skills are crucial for success and the importance for students to find a balance between school work and down time. She also talks about the important role that parents need to adopt, particularly during the 2 year IB Diploma Programme. Morag’s experience co-ordinating, teaching, mentoring and facilitating in IB schools has given her an excellent understanding of IB philosophy and practice and what it takes to succeed.
Morag and Pete Makey were previously the Directors of IB Pathways, providing support to International Baccalaureate (IB) students, families and schools, including IB preparation, teaching, tutoring and mentoring to ensure IB success. Their university service provided guidance for all aspects of university applications and transition and continuing academic and social-emotional support for university students throughout their degree. Now based in Africa, they can still be contacted for IB-related questions and consultancy and support requests: moragmmakey@gmail.com
