Canal du Midi

February 14, 2018 | Activities, France, Toulouse

The Canal du Midi is a 240 km long canal in Southern France. Originally named the Canal Royal en Languedoc and renamed by French revolutionaries to Canal du Midi in 1789. Running from the city of Toulouse down to the Mediterranean port of Sète, the Canal du Midi is arguably the most beautiful and well-known stretch of inland waterway in Southern France.

Just a gorgeous place to promenade, cycle, walk with your friend while she is trying to learn English and you are trying to learn French, picnic, scooter, rollerblade, etc. The trees and water cool things down in the heat of the summer which is just lovely. (Sara Meade)
